Invention Idea

This is an old post from an html page on my site, I’m posting it and other’s here in hopes to retire that old page at some point.

I used to bug my mad scientist friend Ozz about various crazy invention/business ideas I had but he never took my previous ones seriously or used some logic to explain it was illegal or impossible. I’ve since seen most of them made by others who are no doubt rich now. Here’s one that I’ve yet to see happen, so I figure I’ll post it here first, put the date and copyright on it, and see what happens:

Invention idea – Digital Doorbell – Copyright 2000 Matthew J. H.Baya. 11/2/00

Take a digital sampling device, like one from those casio SK-1 keyboards years ago or a cheap pocket digital recorder with a built in mic, as well as a way pop it in some kind of dock so people could transfer sounds from their computer to it, and make it so it can hook up (dock) to an amplified doorbell.

Star Trek geeks can get the The Next Generation door chime sounds, Dr. Who fans can have a claxon ringing, Princess Bride fans can have the words ‘INCONCEIVABLE!’ or whatever they want in their doorbell.

Better yet, take one of these fancy MP3 players, and put hundreds of sounds in a doorbell and make it play one randomly each time.

Also could be hooked up as a phone ringer, car alarm.. you name it. The possibilities are endless!

If you steal this idea and make one, just send me one when you’re rich, ok? 🙂

Note – After putting this up here I also posted it to The Lazy Entrepreneur – Part of Scott Adam’s Dilbert site – (now sadly closed), but no doubt the business entrepreneur leeches have already started production on it. Oh well.. I certainly don’t have the know how to build it, and sadly Ozz is busy enough with his own nutty ideas and life these days to have time to build stuff for me. Oh well. Let me know if you ever see one of these for sale somewhere.
