A friend forwarded me this note yesterday so I figured I’d post this up here in case anyone is searching for anything Hastings High School, Hastings-On-Hudson, NY 10706 related.
To Hastings High School Alumni:
After 38 years of teaching at Hastings High School, our father,
Robert Tucker, is finally retiring. Unfortunately, this was
necessitated by the fact that he was diagnosed with brain cancer
last spring. While he’s had a rough time since then, we are
pleased that he has been doing better over the past few months.
To honor of his retirement and celebrate his career we are putting
together a book that includes pages from former students over the
years. If you’d like to contribute, please send us any (or all)
of the following:
– a memory, story, quote, etc you have of our dad from your
time in high school
– a short note as to where you are now and what you are doing
– a picture of yourself, now and/or from when you were in High
School
Be sure to include your name as it was then, and the years that
you were at HHS.
These can be sent electronically to us at
tucker.retirement@gmail.com
or by regular mail to:
Rebecca Tucker-Smith
164 Cole Ave
Williamstown, MA 01267
Additionally, there is no master list of email addresses of
Hastings alumni, so we are hoping you can spread this message by
forwarding it to as many Hastings alumni as you can, including those
in classes other than your own. Additionally, if anyone has put
together an email list of their classmates for reunion purposes, we
would be especially appreciative if you could forward this message
to that list of addresses.
For those of you who either live nearby or may be passing through
Hastings and would like to see our father, we encourage you to call
him. He still lives in Hastings , and their phone number is listed
in the phone book. To date, he has very much enjoyed having old
students come and visit, but please do call ahead to make sure that
it is a good time.
Thanks so much!
All the best,
Rebecca Tucker-Smith (Class of 91) and Joshua Tucker (Class of 89)
I was in your father’s FIRST class at
HAstings, in 1969/70?
He was a natural teacher; liked, knew and
respected each of his students and was,
of course the object of many a teenage crush.
I probably did 1 1/2 years of economics at Barnard because of him, before realizing that “the dismal science” was
dismal indeed, obtruse and generally not for me.
I will be dropping a condolence note to
your mother. I hope it is a consolation to you that your father, I’m sure, is
remembered as a special person and teacher, by hundreds of students, myself included, from Hastings High School.
Sincerely,
Shui Tor
