Oh and by the way…

Great time to go grocery shopping 6 PM on ‘superbowl Sunday’, especially when your regions team is in the superbowl. There were like a dozen people in the entire store, no traffic. I went to a meeting (see earlier post) just after this and one of the people running it, also oblivious of the superbowl, said they didn’t realize it was a religious holiday. They said ‘this must be what it’s like to be some non-christian religion around Christmas time, all this hullabaloo and stuff that you have no idea what it’s about’

Time Banks FYI

I went to a meeting tonight for the planning of the Hancock County Time Dollar Network. I had heard of Time Banks before but didn’t know there was anything in this area. Turns out there has been one on Mount Desert Island for a while, the MDI Timebank and they are working with folks in Ellsworth and greater Hancock County to start something in this area.

Just makes a lot of sense in that an hour of one persons work is worth an hour of another persons work. Having time as a currency, and build a sense of community. Pretty cool. I’ll write more later when I know more but I’m excited about this.

For more information on Time Banks see http://www.timedollar.org/
For New England folks, check out The New England Time Banks site at http://www.mtdn.org/

So I figured I’d mention it here for anyone else in this area who might be interested, the next meeting is Sunday February 27th at 6 PM for a potluck dinner and 7 PM for an information session at the Ellsworth UU Church.
