In the past week or so I’ve been helping the Antioch College newspaper, The Record, getting an online presence. I set up a wordpress blog, found a theme that worked and some plugins to help things along, I’m actually quite proud with where it’s at right now.
So far i’m just copying articles out of their PDF’s and pasting them in but as I go I’m figuring out ways to do things better and making tweaks to the layout. So I’m posting this link here in a blatant attempt to get search engines, as well as possibly interested parties who haven’t seen it yet, to swing on by and check it out.
(Note: Shortly after this site went live the college sent a ‘cease and decist’ letter. Read the comments below for more info)

Not that he knows what the word is, but while watching Tractor Tom (yes, we live in Maine, Owen often watches Kid’s CBC (canada) instead of PBS, are we bad parents for allowing such influences?
) this morning Owen heard Farmer Fi compliment Tractor Tom
“You’re a Genius Tom!”
Owen turns to me and says very vehemently “You’re a genius Daddy!”
As I said, he has no idea what the word means really (except the context that it’s something good) but it still made me feel good.

Just found a book by Gahan Wilson on our shelves and scanned in my favorite cartoon I remember from it. Over the years this quote & my mental image of the associated cartoon (which I swore I remembered as color) has been useful on multiple levels, both reminding me that I may not be able to see ‘the whole picture’ as well as reminding me that other people may see things differently than me. That and it’s dark, silly, and in this one frame and quote there are a number of stories you can imagine.
