Comment Spam

A change to my blog setup, for those of you who care (as if)

Due to the HUGE amount of comment spam I get, and the fact that people have been abusing the ‘E-mail authorization’ plugin I picked to stop this by putting others e-mail addresses in there thus using my server as a source of annoying e-mails, I am now requiring anyone wanting to comment to have to register for an account on this blog.

This is unfortunate since my ‘Identity Theft’ entry from last January apparently gets a lot of traffic and legit comments. But for the moment, shields are up.

I’m looking into a ‘capcha'(sp?) option but haven’t found any that work with wordpress 1.5 yet. Anyone else have any experience with this?

Freedom of Speech according to Utah Phillips

“The state can’t give you free speech, and the state can’t take it away. You’re born with it, like your eyes, like your ears. Freedom is something you assume, then you wait for someone to try to take it away. The degree to which you resist is the degree to which you are free…â€? – Utah Phillips
