I Paint What I See

Today I drop Emily off at the airport so she can go on a cruise (on my brother’s cruise ship) all next week, while I toil away up here in cold/dark Maine, wishing I had more vacation time. I don’t think I’m that greedy in wishing I had enough vacation to take a few days at thanksgiving, a week at Xmas and a week or two for the rest of the year. I REALLY miss working for a college where the Thanksgiving and Xmas time was automatic, on top of my vacation time.

I also wish I worked somewhere where I could take advantage of unused sick time. Last I looked I had around 280 hours of unused sick time, and like 10 hours of vacation time. If I were a less honest person I could have LOTS of time off. Sucks to be me I guess.

And now Waylon Jennings is dead at age 64. They said on NPR he was good friends with Buddy Holly and he actually gave up his seat on the plane so ‘The Big Bopper’ could fly instead on the flight that crashed and killed them, so he got a good run of life since then. I can’t say I’m that much of a country music fan, but I did listen to alot in the 70’s before I started listening to classic rock, and Waylon was big back then.. plus didn’t he do the Dukes of Hazzard theme?

Also.. maybe Dave Van Ronk and Waylon Jennings were really the same person leading a double life? hmmmm

Well, nothing really deep, just thinking about this blog thing and how I could use it in some way that might be moderately interesting and or useful.

Thought of the day seems like a good start, though it will quickly expose how shallow my thoughts are so perhaps I should stay mysterious.

Hmm.. have to think about that.
